Good luck to all the players and coaches

As we bring to a close the 2008 Outdoor season, I would like to thank all of the volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, executive members, convenors, referees, and managers. Without their commitment to our organizations soccer in our community would not be possible.

This season SYSA had the opportunity to host 16 in-house and 15 travel teams. We also had over 430 youth players registered in 2008.

The season kicked off May 1st and concluded on Sept 27th with over 300 matches being played at the Soccer Complex, Stonewall High School and Centennial School. This year we held our 2nd annual Soccer Festival on Saturday, June 14th with 26 soccer teams taking part. The event concluded with a Coaches’ game, which was great to see.

SYSA will conduct an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 pm in the Stonewall High School Gym.

The meeting is a great opportunity for our members to bring forward any suggestion, which will assist the new executive in 2009. In addition, the following Executive and Director positions are open for election.

Without a full SYSA Executive some programs or events will not be available in 2009.

Stonewall Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce that we have received a Grant of $1,000 from The Western Canada Summer Games Legacy Fund towards the purchase of new soccer uniforms.

The Western Canada Summer Games Legacy Fund was created with the surplus generated by the 2003 Western Canada Summer Games (WCSG). The purpose of the fund is to provide opportunities for promotion and enhancement of leadership and/or sport development within the four Host Communities and the Lord Selkirk School Division.

The Selkirk & District Community Foundation, a non‑profit charitable organization incorporated in 1995, has created a permanent 2003 WCSG Legacy Fund.  Income from this Fund will be granted to organizations for the benefit of sports within the four Host Communities and the Lord Selkirk School Division.

Stonewall Youth Soccer Association would like to thank the Selkirk & District Community Foundation Board of Directors for supporting our organization
